I leave for Togo, West Africa as a Peace Corps Volunteer on Thursday, June 3rd. I welcome you to come with me on this journey! I'll be writing about Togo, The Peace Corps, and my work in Togo as often as possible on this blog for the next twenty-seven months.
This weekend has been about family and friends. A celebration to honor all the people who helped me get to Togo will be held tonight at Californos in Westport. I'm so grateful for all the support, love and encouragement I've received over the last six months. I'm especially touched by the constant love and support of my three (adult) children, who have made, and will continue to make countless sacrifices so that I can do this. And to my friends, I will continue to be amazed by your generosity of spirit. It did indeed "take a village" to get me to this particular point in time. I'm excited, scared, happy, and sad.
